About Addie and Ivy



Hello!  My name is Addie, and my youngest daughter is named Ivy.  Through the influence of her older sisters' YouTube-binge habits, Ivy decided that she wanted to create an online presence.  As a responsible parent, I thought my help would be a good idea.

Ivy and I love to create experiences, do new things, try-again things, learning how to do lots of things, and making up our own adventures!  Sometimes Ivy's ideas are hard to make real, since we are a family on a modest budget, but we find ways to make do with what we have. That is one reason why you won't see the beautiful painted rock patterns like you might see on other parenting blogs... because we don't have large, smooth rocks.  Our rocks are rough, edgey, and textured.  And I am not going to BUY ROCKS.

Our online presence is to share with you our (mis)adventures, our efforts, our favorite days, and maybe even some of our more challenging days.  We hope that you might be inspired to make something out of nothing!

Ivy and Addie's Cafe: Pancakes!

We've had a bit of a "hankering" for pancakes lately, so we decided that today was a nice day for it.  After we pulled out all of the ingredients, I sat by the coffee machine with the recipe book while Ivy got to do the dirt work.  I did get distracted by getting a head start on the dishes, so we forgot to mix the egg with the oil and milk, but we remembered just as Ivy poured in the egg into the dry ingredients, so we just dumped in the oil and milk and stirred it all up.  We used the Better Homes & Gardens "New Cookbook" original pancake recipe.  It was really easy and uses only normal baking ingredients, so it is not much more difficult than making pancakes from a box.  We only made seven small pancakes, but three plus two sausages were enough to fill me up (without feeling stuffed).  Ivy had four pancakes, and we still had at least one more batch's worth of batter left - we ended up freezing it to use another day.
